Transsylvania, early 19th century: Real estate agent Thomas Hutter travels to meet the sinister Count Orlok who wants to purchase a house in his home town of Wisborg. Orlok, however, turns out to be a dangerous vampire. When he sees a picture of Hutter’s wife Ellen in a medallion, he brings the agent under his control and sets out for Wisborg.
